UPDATE: French Fin Min Has Daily Conference Call With Bankers

(Adds ministry spokesman confirmation) PARIS -(Dow Jones)- Finance Minister Christine Lagarde has begun holding a daily conference call with the heads of French banking and insurance companies, a ministry spokesman said Monday. "That's true, she has a daily conference call with heads of banks, insurance companies. They discuss the situation on the market, within the sector, the issues," the spokesman added. Earlier, people familiar with the matter told Dow Jones Newswires that "this has been going on for several days now." The conference calls take place at different times, the people also said. During the conference calls, Lagarde discusses each bank's and insurer's situation but also the issues they could encounter on the money and foreign exchange markets, the sources said.
