PARIS -(Dow Jones)- European commercial aircraft builder Airbus said Friday it had delivered 29 jets in August, but said it hadn't booked any new orders during the month. The August delivery tally included seven wide-bodied jets. Most of the deliveries were for narrow-bodied planes of Airbus's A320 family. Seven wide-bodied aircraft were handed over to customers in the month. Since the beginning of the year, Airbus, a subsidiary of European Aeronautic Defence & Space Co. (5730.FR), has delivered a total of 315 aircraft. With economic indicators weakening and air travel growth on the wane worldwide, airlines in the U.S. and Europe are tending to reduce capacity. Between January and July, Airbus recorded 754 orders. Since the beginning of the year, it has also booked 46 cancellations, making a net order tally of 708 aircraft. -By David Pearson, Dow Jones Newswires; +331 4017 1740, david.pearson@dowjones.com Click here to go to Dow Jones NewsPlus, a web front page of today's most important business and market news, analysis and commentary: http://www.djnewsplus.com/al?rnd=SQPtoma7AKYHUcHIhpuOWw%3D%3D.
