LONDON -(Dow Jones)- British Airways PLC (BAY.LN) won't take delivery of any wide-bodied airplanes in 2010 or 2011 owing to delays in Boeing Co.'s (BA) 787 jetplane program, Chief Executive Willie Walsh said Friday. BA last year ordered 24 787s and 12 Airbus A380s for delivery between 2010 and 2014. Boeing recently announced a fresh delay in the delivery of 787s due to supplier problems, while the A380 program is seeing another delay of up to three months. Walsh added that ticket prices are likely to increase going forward as the airline looks to pass on the higher price of fuel to customers. "I think it's inevitable (that) we will see the oil price flowing through to fares," Walsh told analysts on a conference call. -By Rod Stone, Dow Jones Newswires; +44 207 842 9295; rod.stone@dowjones.com |
