MILAN -(Dow Jones)- Fiat Powertrain Technologies, Fiat SpA's (FIATY) engines and transmissions unit, is buying Chrysler LLC's Tritec Motors plant in Brazil, the companies said in a statement Wednesday. According to the statement, which didn't include a purchase price, Fiat will invest 250 million Brazilian reals, or about EUR83 million, in the plant. Aside from producing the current range of engines, Fiat Powertrain Technologies said it will also build a new range of mid-size gasoline and flex-fuel engines at the facility. The Tritec Motors plant, which has produced engines for Chrysler's PT Cruiser and BWM AG's (BMW.XE) Mini, is located in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, in southern Brazil.
