Honda: China Oct Auto Sales Up 2.4% To 35,680 Units

BEIJING -(Dow Jones)- Honda Motor Co. (HMC) said Thursday its October vehicle sales in China rose 2.4% to 35,680 units, from 34,842 units in the same month a year earlier. Sales for the January-October period increased 17.9% to 391,938 units, from 332,376 units a year earlier, the Japanese automaker said in a statement. January-October sales by Guangzhou Honda Automobile Co., Honda's 50-50 joint venture with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., rose 10.0% to 254,778 units, from 231,720 units a year earlier. Guangzhou Honda makes the Accord and Fit sedans and the Odyssey minivan, among other vehicles. Sales at Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., a 50-50 venture with China's Dongfeng Motor Corp., rose 36.3% to 137,160 units in the 10-month period, from 100,656 units a year earlier. However, sales at the Dongfeng venture fell 6.2% to 10,648 units in October alone, from 11,349 units a year earlier, the statement said.
