TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- The Japanese government Friday announced an economic support package worth Y11.7 trillion, of which around Y2.0 trillion will be provided by an extra budget. Under the program, which Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda described as a "comprehensive package to realize national assurance," are steps to ease the pain of crude oil price hikes on firms and consumers, help promote energy savings and make the nation's agriculture sector stronger. The government decided to implement income tax cuts for this fiscal year following an agreement between the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and its junior partner New Komeito, but the size of the cuts hasn't been decided. The package also includes a Y400 billion loan guarantee for small and midsize companies. -By Tomoyuki Tachikawa, Dow Jones Newswires; 813-5255-2929; tomoyuki.tachikawa@dowjones.com Click here to go to Dow Jones NewsPlus, a web front page of today's most important business and market news, analysis and commentary: http://www.djnewsplus.com/al?rnd=zqA%2BjI6lIzdxa%2FbHsvt05w%3D%3D.
