Microsoft's Gates To Speak Before House Panel On Technology

WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) co-founder and outgoing chairman Bill Gates will testify March 12 before the House Science & Technology Committee about the role of technology in promoting U.S. competitiveness globally. In a rare public trip to Congress, Gates will speak to the House panel as it marks its 50th anniversary with a series of sessions about competition and technology. According to a statement released by Microsoft, Gates will focus on education and workforce development and the need for immigration reform to allow for highly skilled workers to remain in the U.S. He will also speak next week to the Northern Virginia Technology Council, where he will discuss the importance of public-private partnerships, the company said.
