WASHINGTON (AFP)--The United States and Kenya have struck a comprehensive open-skies agreement that expands and liberalizes air travel between the two countries, the State Department said Friday. The agreement was initialed Friday after two days of negotiations in Washington. Under the market-oriented approach to aviation relations, airlines, not governments, decide which cities to serve, the frequency of flights, the equipment used, and the prices charged, the department said. "The agreement will strengthen and expand our already strong trade and tourism links with Kenya, and provide multimillion-dollar benefits to American and Kenyan carriers and the traveling public, while preserving our commitments to aviation safety and security," the State Department said.
