PARIS -(Dow Jones)- French drug maker Sanofi-Aventis SA (12057.FR) plans to cut 927 jobs at its sales unit in France, spokesman Jean-Marc Podvin told Dow Jones Newswires Thursday. Sanofi-Aventis presented its plan to a works council held Thursday, Podvin said, adding the job cuts would mainly affect medical representatives - 817 jobs - with another 110 job cuts at the unit's French headquarters. The spokesman didn't specify the number of possible layoffs but said following negotiations started early this year, about 150 affected employees had accepted offers for redeployment. Sanofi-Aventis' Podvin also said the next step after the presentation of the plan was the information and consultation of employees. Podvin said unit currently employs 3,400 people. -By Alice Dore, Dow Jones Newswires; +33 1 4017 1740; alice.dore@dowjones.com Click here to go to Dow Jones NewsPlus, a web front page of today's most important business and market news, analysis and commentary: http://www.djnewsplus.com/al?rnd=b0mLQ9gk7h7oHq8Uk5fR6Q%3D%3D.
