MILAN -(Dow Jones)- Italy's publisher Arnoldo Mondadori (MN.MI) said Wednesday there are no concrete plans at present to bid for French Editis, following press reports in France of a possible interest by Italian peers in the French publishing company. The investment holding company Wendel (MF.FR) may sell its Editis publishing unit, which is valued at between EUR750 million and EUR950 million, according to La Tribune's Web site Monday. Wendel bought the company four years ago for around EUR660 million, the newspaper said. Several publishing companies, including Mondadori and its Italian peer RCS Mediagroup (RCS.MI), could be interested, the newspaper said. An RCS spokesperson also said Wednesday there are no concrete initiatives at present to bid for Editis. Mondadori shares have been boosted Wednesday by the press reports on a possible bid for Editis and by 1303 GMT were trading up 6% at EUR5.45, outperforming an overall negative market. RCS shares were down 0.4% at EUR2.44, in line with the market. --By Giada Zampano, Dow Jones Newswires, +39 02 5821 9907; giada.zampanodowjones.com
