According to Barbassa, Petrobras will end 2008 with domestic oil production between 1.89 million and 1.90 million barrels a day. That's because two platforms that were expected to enter production by the end of the year won't make the deadline, Barbassa said.
The two platforms were the recently inaugurated P-51 and the "Cidade de Rio de Janeiro" floating production, storage and offloading, or FPSO, vessel.
The executive made the comments during a press conference to discuss the company's record third-quarter net profit.
Petrobras, however, still expects domestic oil output to top last year, Barbassa said.
"With the entry into operation of three platforms by January, the expectation is that production will continue to grow," Barbassa said.
