The program, called the Clean Energy Fund, will make grants for large-scale carbon capture and storage demonstration projects, renewable and alternative energy projects, and research tied to cleaning up waste water from the oil sands, said Lisa Raitt, Minister of Natural Resources.
"Not only will this funding protect our long-term energy security, but this additional stimulus creates high-quality jobs for Canadians at a time when they're most needed," she said.
The new fund is part of Canada's $2 billion (C$2.4 billion) Economic Action Plan.
