A strike by port workers at France's biggest oil port of Fos-Lavera to protest the implementation of an overhaul of France's ports has brought activity there to a standstill and is causing disruptions for refiners.
The overall levels of strategic stocks held in France and overseen by the SAGESS agency have not been depleted, the person said. Companies using the crude pumped to Fos-Lavera are then reserving equivalent amounts of crude elsewhere in the country, the person explained.
Companies always hold strategic reserves on behalf of the SAGESS, some of which they store at the Manosque facility, the origin of the stocked crude being pumped to Fos-Lavera, the person explained.
