Lafarge: 3Q Cement Volume Declined 8% Vs -10% In 2Q - Slides
Lafarge's plan to divest EUR1 billion of assets is progressing well, with already EUR800 million of divestitures secured, according to the presentation that the company's Chief Financial Officer Jean-Jacques Gauthier is due to make later Friday.
Economic downturn in Europe and North America led strong volume declines, but the rates of decline started to lessen in the third quarter, Lafarge said in the slides.
Also, tight cost control and lower energy cost in the third quarter explain the stability of Ebitda margin in the quarter, despite the impact of declining volumes, Lafarge noted in the slides.
Even though volumes dropped, prices are expected to remain solid overall for the full year, despite price declines "in a limited number of markets," according to the slides.
