Nasdaq's matched-volume market share - trades executed at the same level as the market's opening reference price - of NYSE-listed stocks was 23.1% last month, compared with 23.3% in September and 18.4% a year earlier. Overall volume was 37.4 billion shares.
Nasdaq's matched share of all U.S. equities was 30.5%, topping other U.S. exchanges for the 19th month in a row.
Its average daily matched volume of Nasdaq-listed securities was 1.2 billion shares, up 18% from the previous month and 25% from a year earlier.
Shares of Nasdaq fell 4.3% to close at $19.65 on Tuesday and were unchanged in after-hours trading.
