Iran President Candidate Mousavi: Favor Market-Oriented Econ Policy

TEHRAN -(Dow Jones)- Iran's leading moderate presidential candidate said Friday that he would support a market-oriented economic policy if elected president.
"We now need a great deal of foreign investment in the private sector and need to create a situation in the country that facilitates the strong presence of the private sector and investors in the country," Mir Hossein Mousavi told reporters in Tehran.
Mousavi, who is well-known for his management of Iran's economy during the Islamic republic's eight-year war with Iraq, is the leading contender against standing President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the presidency.
"The war economy is finished. We will pursue a policy that follows the direction of the market," Mousavi said.
