The smartphone maker said Brown will pursue other interests after transitioning out of the financial chief role.
Before joining EBay, Jeffries held financial and information technology leadership roles at GenCorp Inc. (GY), Red Herring Communications and Cardinal Health Inc. (CAH).
Earlier this month, Palm issued preliminary fiscal second-quarter sales far below analysts' estimates as the company struggles to revitalize its line of smartphone and wireless devices at a time of slumping demand and heightened competition in the smartphone market.
President and Chief Executive Ed Colligan said the company was seeing "unprecedented dynamics in the global markets as economic uncertainty hampers demand for consumer products."
Palm shares jumped 3.2% to $2.05 in after-hours trading.
