McGauchie said the decision to reject Telstra's proposal would have a "negligible impact" on the firm in the short term.
"And as (rival bidders and the government) try to get their act together, we will have well and truly moved on from here to other platforms, other technologies, and other opportunities for the company that we think provide a much better outlook for our business than taking a risk with the unknown," he told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio.
Asked if there would be any earnings impact from Telstra being dumped from the tender, McGauchie said "not in any foreseeable future".
"In fact it may well be that with this happening, looking at the future technologies rather than the past technologies is our best opportunity," he said.
