Tariffs on gasoline, kerosene and jet fuel will be raised to 25% from 20%, he said. The official with the ministry's tax department declined to be identified.
The import tariff on diesel will be raised to 20% from 15%, the official said.
The tax hike, the fourth this year, is to protect the general interests of the government, enterprises and consumers, he said.
Vietnam imports all the petroleum products used in the country as it doesn't have any operational refining facilities.
