The other appointees include Peter Clare, group executive, product and operations; Phil Chronican, group executive, institutional banking; Bruce McLachlan, acting chief executive, Westpac New Zealand; Phil Coffey, chief financial officer and Rob Whitfield, group executive, risk management.
Bartlett has been with St. George for more than 25 years and has served on its executive team for 17 of those.
Westpac Chief Executive Gail Kelly said the bank hopes to maintain continuity throughout the merging of the two financial institutions.
"Our integration plans are well advanced and the Westpac and St.George teams have been working closely together to ensure both organisations are merger ready," she said. "We are determined that the integration process is as smooth as possible."
The Federal Court approved the merger of the two banks Monday.
