SeeSaw opens for beta registrations15.12.09 Share Upcoming UK video-on-demand platform SeeSaw, built by Arqiva from the assets of Project Kangaroo, has opened its site for registrations to the beta version of the platform.
Interested parties can register on the company's website (here) in order to apply for an invitation and code to participate in the project, with the first codes already being sent out to successful applicants. The company is currently starting small and letting people in gradually, according to a statement on its website.
SeeSaw has already signed a deal with BBC Worldwide to add the latter's content to the platform. Earlier this year Arqiva bought the technology assets to the ill-fated Project Kangaroo venture, which was founded by the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 to pool the broadcasters' VOD content in one online location. The initiative was however blocked by the UK's Competition Commission earlier this year, due to concerns that it would distort competition in the UK video-on-demand market.
The service is tentatively expected to launch in the first quarter of next year, offering a mixture of free and paid-for content from a variety of broadcasters and content producers.
