- SINGAPORE -(Dow Jones)- Singapore state investment company Temasek Holdings has bought a small stake in New York-listed Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (FCX) for around US$32 million, according to a regulatory filing seen by Dow Jones Newswires Monday.
The deal is the latest in a series of investments by Temasek in the resources sector since April.
According to the filing made on May 11 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Temasek bought 382,000 Freeport shares.
Temasek couldn't be immediately reached for comment.
Temasek, whose investments are mostly in banks, has lately poured around $1 billion in mining and energy firms.
Earlier this month it paid $500 million in convertible shares of Chesapeake Energy Corp. and before that it invested around $480 million in Inmet Mining Corp.
It is also looking for mining opportunities in Mongolia and Africa.
